Ha--I win. This DVD player is so close to Blu-Ray it's not funny. I saved so much money and now have a picture so crisp my Blu-Ray owning friends are kicking themselves.
Hook-up was easy; it's reliable and does the job well. They kept it for 3 months and still could not repair it. So, I was determined to buy a player that was not made with piracy in mind and was more consumer-friendly.So far, I'm very pleased with the performance and ease of use of my Pioneer. I purchased this player because of the great reviews and the fact that Consumer Reports rated it well. That's all I ask for. I use the player solely for my exercise videos, which I use daily. It was to replace a more expensive Sony DVD/VCR RDR-VXD655 that started freezing up after only 4 months. The Sony apparently came equipped with security features that could only be repaired by Sony.
S--- happens, so no problem. The first unit didn't work. It took a circuit of return and replace but they handled it professionally, paid for my return shipping, and the new unit is as advertised.
Thanks. purchase Item and was shipped fast and so very satisfied with seller and product performs every well, no complaints about anything. Very nice.
I love the USB slot on the front because it makes it so easy to play photos or video files right from a thumb drive. Note you will need to purchase an HDMI cable if you plan on using the upscaling feature.
Load times seem a little bit slow to me, but then again this unit is doing so much more than any one I've ever had, so that might just be from the technology involved. The slim design looks elegant in our entertainment center and the front of the unit has just about any button you would need if you can't find the remote and want to get things started.
Let me start by saying I am not the world's greatest videophile, but seriously, what more could you ask for in a DVD player. My unit is connected to a Pioneer Kuro 50' plasma, and to tell the truth I don't see the difference between the upscaled 720p and 1080p, but for those of you who want it, the feature is there.
Overall a great unit, Pioneer has earned my business for many years to come. I have yet to run in to a file or disc that will not play on this unit.
You no longer have hassle of burning media to a DVD to get it to play on your TV.
